Misuse of operational vehicle : Member, CBDT warns stern action.

In this blog we have repeatedly highlighted regarding misuse of operational vehicle by a section of officers and officials in the department. The service associations never took this issue for agitation because in this matter some of the leaders also enjoy the undue benefit themselves.
Member, CBDT again warned the officers to ensure that operational vehicles should be made available for officers and official for official use only. It is also highlighted that operational vehicles are not meant for commuting between office and residence of the officers and not for personal use of them and their family members.
But the question is  who will bell the cat ? As per prevailing practice most of the operational vehicles are unofficially earmarked to officers (Including Range Heads) for their journey from office to home and personal purpose. Officers and officials seldom get the privilege of using it for actually official purpose. Surprise checking of logbook will not serve the purpose because it is mostly manipulated. CBDT may explore the option of fixing GPS device on each and every car so that it can be monitored from New Delhi !

  3. None in this department is hearing. All are deaf and dumb.Raised this issue several times before our leadership, but, in vain. Almost all the officers(Range Heads) have taken this operational vehicle for commuting to and fro their respective offices,as taken for granted. There is none in this department to raise their voices. Officers (AC/DC or ITOs)under Range are busy for appeasement of their Range Heads. Thus, result is obvious. Most of the official works are performed by the officials on their own cost on public vehicle. If questions raised, Range Heads told Inspectors and Notice Servers(who generally performs outdoor duties) that since they draw Petrol Reimbursement, no vehicle will be provided and defray transport cost from their own pocket. They forget that, they too draw TA for commuting day to day from their residence to office and vice versa. Despicable situation, none is here to hear you. Moreover, during Saturdays and Sundays(Govt Holidays) Officers used these operational vehicle for personal purpose, like, marketing, attending clubs/restaurants, visiting In-laws house(for showing chivalry) etc. Operational Vehicles have become a symbol of showing social positions of Range Heads. Enjoyment at the cost of Taxpayer's hard earned money.

  4. 'Board' is jealous because mere JCsIT and DCsIT are enjoying the Operational Vehicles at Field and small stations.

  5. Officers posted in Field and small stations are enjoying official vehicle as their personal. Weekly and daily up down from house to office, using vehicle for dropping children at their schools and colleges etc. Good step by the Board.

  8. Government should contract ola or uber to pick and drop officers from home and pay travelling allowance to the transport company it will be much cheaper. For a distance of 10 km up down it will not cost more than 5-6 thousand for a month.
