Last date of return filing extended up to 5th August 2016

CBDT extended last date of filing I T returns up to 5th August 2016 from existing 31st July to enable the taxpayers to pay tax inspite of bank strike today and bank holiday on 31st July.

"As per provisions of Section 139(1) of Income-tax Act 1961, Central Board of Direct Taxes extends the due date for filing returns of Income for Assessment Year 2016- 2017 from 31st July, 2016 to 5th July,2016 , in case of taxpayers throughout India who are liable to file their Income-tax by 31st July, 2016. 

This extension is given in order to avoid any inconvenience to the taxpayers while making payment of taxes pertaining to returns of income for Assessment Year 2016- 2017 by 31st July, 2016 due to reports of Bank strike on 29th July,2016(Friday) and 31st July,2016 (Sunday), being a Bank-Holiday . " - PIB Press Release

Option for posting sought from the newly promoted ACITs

All newly promoted ACITs may exercise option for posting as directed by CBDT.
The option to be given using the online window for this purpose which will be operational between 28.07.2016 and 04.08.2016.
The officer concern may indicate 5 choices of CCA Regions including one deficient region such as Bihar & Jharkhand, Kerala, Odisha, Tamilnadu and West Bengal & Sikkim.

214 ITOs promoted to ACIT on adhoc basis

The long waited promotion order finally released after much drama. 18 ITOs promoted for the vacancy year 2014-15 and 196 ITOs promoted for the vacancy year 2015-16.
The promotions are "in situ" basis and they will continue to function the same duties until further order.

FM approved adhoc ACIT promotion. CIT & Pr CIT Transfer order issued

It is learnt from reliable sources that FM approved the file today afternoon. The promotion order for the post of ACIT on adhoc basis may be released at any time. It is also reported that promotion order for panel year 2014-15 (remaining vacancies) and 2015-16 is likely to be released together.

Adhoc ACIT promotion very soon

As reported from sources close to CBDT, promotion order for adhoc ACITs is going to be issued very soon. The main obstacles for this long awaited promotion order have finally been removed. 
1. The minutes of the DPC meeting which was held long before on 20th and 21st of June is finally signed by the committee members.
2. Promotion as per CAT Ahmedabad order has effected today. One ITO of Ahmedabad region  promoted as ACIT with notional effect from 28.03.2012. View the order
It is expected that promotion for the panel year 2015-16 will be effected very soon, probably within this week.
If any viewer can add any information in this regard, it will be highly appreciated.

Relaxation on Inter charge Transfer order issued

Long waited inter charge transfer order for non gazetted staff issued by CBDT.
The requirement of rendering three years service has been relaxed for certain categories as under :
Physically handicapped
Spouse or children differently abled.
Unmarried lady officials
Spouse working in Govt. sector in other state
Ex servicemen.
The non gazetted staff of the above categories will be eligible to make a request for inter charge transfer after putting one year of service in the present grade.

Little progress in 8 months after suspension of agitation by JCA

No information available for ITO to ACIT promotion (2015-16)

Viewers may recall that JCA withdrew agitation following assurance (read "direction") by Revenue Secretary on a brief meeting on 3rd November 2015. As per JCA, the agitation had been withdrawn temporarily but later on it proved that withdrawal was unconditional and for infinite period.
Let us see what the employees did achieve in the last eight months against their five point charter of demands and assurances thereafter
1. Regarding ITO to ACIT promotion : Only adhoc promotion for the vacancy year 2014-15 is effected. The promise of DPC for 2015-16, 2016-17 within 31st March proved bogus. And consequential adhoc promotion from ITI to ITO did not take place in all charges. Forget about any adhoc consequential promotion down the line of Inspector in any charge.
2. RRs of Gr.B & C cadres : Recruitment Rules for the cadres of TA, NS, Staff Car Drivers, Canteen Employees notified. But the Recruitment Rules for the cadres of ITO, AO, PS, Inspector, Stenographer Gr.-I and Executive Assistant is still pending.
3. Filling up of vacant posts : Promised "For relaxation of RRs, as per suggestions of JCA, a comprehensive proposal will be submitted by the HRD to the CBDT within a day or two." Nothing actually happened.
4. Regularization of Casual Workers : No development so far.
5.  Infrastructure Issue : No progress.

In addition to these five point demand, earlier demands like laptop to Inspector/AO/PS, Increased petrol allowance for Inspector/N.S.,  access to irsofficersonline etc. are still pending for years.
The ridiculous and childish demand against videography in Dept. exam., not adhered to, in addition compulsory passing of exam. for newly promoted ITOs introduced.
And surprisingly, JCA is in no mood for agitation !

Adhoc ACIT promotion (2015-16) likely this week

It is reported that Adhoc ACIT promotion for the vacancy year 2015-16 will be completed within this week. Chairman, CBDT and Member (P) has assured this. They also assured that 6 vacant posts of earlier year (2014-15) (for 5 retired and 1 deceased in the earlier promotion order) will also be considered in this order.

No authentic news available reg ACIT promotion for v.y. 2015-16

The publisher of this blog is being flooded with queries about ACIT promotion which is long overdue. No concrete information is available in any forum. Surprisingly, the ITGOA leaders either do not have access to information or not willing to share the details for some secret agenda of their own.
Rumors are spreading within the employees. As per news available, one of the promotion aspirants has already retired last month without getting his legitimate promotion. 
As per news procured from unconfirmed sources, though the procedure of DPC has been completed on 20 and 21st of June last month, the minute of the DPC meeting is yet to be formally signed. CBDT is in dilemma whether to give effect to the CAT, Ahmedabad order received within the DPC meeting first and then issue promotion order or vice versa. The order mentioned here is in favour of an ITO who has to be promoted in the vacancy year 2014-15.
