To facilitate filing of Income Tax returns and completion of pending departmental works, all Income Tax offices throughout the country shall remain open on 29th , 30th and 31st March 2018. CBDT issued order u/s 119(1) of the Income Tax Act 1961. It may be mentioned that 29th and 30th March was declared as closed holiday on account of Mahavir Jayanti and Good Friday. 31st March is also a holiday as saturday. Click here for the order

As per sources, the proposal for laptop for ITOs and above has been cleared by IFU and going to materialize very soon. As per information available, the procurement is likely to be zonewise instead of centralized purchase as earlier. The A.O. and P.S cadre is again going to be left outside of the laptop entitlement. "The issue of holding examination at the end of training of newly promoted ITOs and linking
the same with the field posting was discussed in the Secretariat meeting held on 16.02.2018. In
this connection, the meeting also took note of the decision taken in the JCA and earlier decision as
communicated through its Circular dated 24.07.2017. The Central JCA vide aforesaid Circular
intimated that in view of various Court orders staying the impugned Instruction dated 28‐02‐2017
its members all over the Country, who were/ would be participating in the Orientation Course for
the newly promoted ITOs, would not appear in the said examinations at the end of the Course.
The Secretariat meeting held on 16.02.2018, after discussion is of the opinion that since the Board
has not withdrawn its impugned Instruction dated 28.02.2018, hence to continue with the
decision of the JCA communicated vide Circular dated 24.07.2017 i.e. not to appear in the
examination at the end of Orientation Course this year also. A copy of the JCA Circular dated

has with reference to the above referred subject; we would like to convey
our sincere thanks to your honour and also to the Member (Admn), CBDT, New Delhi for
taking efforts for holding the DPC for promotion to the cadre of ACIT for the R.Y. 2017-
18 by 31.03.2018. It is appreciable that under your leadership steps have been initiated
to promote the long awaited deserving officers, who are stagnating for more than 13/14
years in the cadre of Income Tax Officer despite having residency period of only 3 years
as per the recruitment rules. In this connection and to speed up the process of DPC as
well as to facilitate early promotion, we have contacted all our units to remove the
deficiencies of APAR immediately.
We would therefore, like to request you kindly to issue necessary direction to the
concerned administrative wing to finalise the vacancy position, eligibility list etc. on the
basis of the details as collected by us from all the charges. The number of vacancies
reported to UPSC for the direct recruitment is 180 for the R.Y. 2017-18. Considering
high stagnation in the ITO cadre, we request for maximum possible promotions in the
R.Y. 2017-18. We have also collected vacancy position in the cadre of DCIT/ACIT as on
19.01.2018 (region wise), which were 321 as per attached Annexure. We are sure that
the same will facilitate early completion of the process for holding the DPC for
promotion to the post of ACIT against the R.Y. 2017-18 and the much desired
