In an unprecedented move by local administration, police have been called in during an agitation programme of JCA, West Bengal and Sikkim.
The members were agitation against the proposed changes in transfer/posting policy of ITOs in this region. The prevailing policy of posting ITOs in a specific charge has been proposed to be done away with from current year AGT. In stead of this, the ITOs to be posted in a particular Pr CIT charge who will eventually post the ITOs in charge under his jurisdiction.
Association opposed this and meeting with adminsitration could not yield any fruitful conclusion and JCA went into warpath. In the agitation programme, started with a day long dharna in front of the chamber of Pr CCIT, WB & Sikkim yesterday, authority called police to intervene. Police personnel reached Aayakar Bhawan but did not intervene but remained as mute spectator. JCA considered the move highly objectionable and decided to continue the agitation with more intensity.
It may be mentioned that throughout India, there is no such uniform transfer policy and it is decided region wise in consultation with local association.
